Day 26: Back to Front end

This weekend we have to prep for our React week. I’m excited to learn React - my main passion project is something people have said “Oh, wait until you’ve learned React to do that; it will be so much easier!” So we’ll see. In the meantime, we’re revising good ol’ CSS (argh). We have been tasked with replicating this product card.

I felt a bit ashamed when I realised I didn’t even know where to start, then reminded myself that with all our work on javascript, node, databases, APIs, SQL, testing, we have spent almost no time on front end so far on this course, so it’s okay to be lost. It took me more time and googling than it should have to get to this:

Which (despite several discrepancies) looks not too bad in this screenshot, but is in no way responsive and doesn’t behave itself in terms of sitting nicely in the cream background (if I re-sized my browser it would be a total mess!) I don’t have any more time to spend on it this weekend, and visual design is never going to be my strong point. But I’m hoping by the end of the week I’ll understand all this stuff a lot better.
